The Krewe

Kennedy, a gifted young author, possesses a talent for connecting with fellow type one diabetics. A pre-teen residing in Alabama, Kennedy understands how crucial a support system is for managing her condition, which includes her treasured pets, Cane and Leo. Along with her compelling writing skills, Kennedy has a passion for creating handmade bracelets and spending time with her friends.

As a type one diabetic herself, Kennedy is resolute in helping young people living with diabetes by fostering a sense of community. Her books aim to communicate the importance of supporting one another and remind her readers that they aren’t alone in their diagnosis. Kennedy encourages children to share their experiences with the condition and hopes that her books will inspire others to add their voices to this growing dialogue.

Kennedy has aspirations to become a T1D social worker, which will enable her to assist newly diagnosed patients and their families in navigating the complexities of living with diabetes. Kennedy’s determination to impact the lives of others positively is truly admirable, and her compassion for those in need is inspiring.

It is worth noting that her dia-versary is on February 7th, marking a significant day in her journey with type one diabetes.

Jen is a devoted stay-at-home mom who also homeschools her family. She proudly functions as the “behind the scenes” member of Dia-Bestie Adventures’ Krewe, where she oversees all things management related. Jen’s primary objective is to assist Kennedy in pursuing her dreams, and she tackles this task with an infectious energy and enthusiasm.

Outside of the many tasks that she shoulders at home, Jen is an avid reader, music lover, and sports enthusiast. The most significant aspect of her life, however, is living out her faith, a value that sustains her. Alabama is her cherished home, where she resides with her three children, James, Addison, and Kennedy, along with their pets, Cane and Leo, and her steadfast husband, Charles.

Jen’s most crucial role is serving as a full-time pancreas to her daughter Kennedy, who is a type-one diabetic. Keeping Kennedy’s blood sugar levels stable and managing her insulin doses is a never-ending task. Jen is incredibly thankful for the technology that assists her with Kennedy’s condition and acknowledges the vast network of support that makes her job manageable.

Overall, Jen feels incredibly blessed with a busy and fulfilling life, and she draws immense strength and joy from the love and support of her family and friends.

Vicki is a proud Nana of six wonderful grandchildren who bring so much joy into her life.

She is deeply passionate about her faith and finds great comfort in spending time in worship and prayer. She has a love for photography, which allows her to capture life’s beautiful moments and memories.

She is blessed to live on a beautiful lake, and cherish the peacefulness and serenity that comes with being near the water.

Helping others is one of her guiding principles, and she feel incredibly fulfilled when she can offer support and assistance to those in need. One of her favorite ways to help others is by supporting her granddaughter’s business, Dia-Bestie Adventures, which is focused on promoting awareness for type one diabetes and helping those struggling with the condition. She is incredibly proud of her and so grateful to be a part of her journey.

Overall, she is grateful for her faith, family, and the opportunities she has to make a difference in the lives of those around her.
